The Belgian Federation of
"Le Droit Humain"

« Le Droit Humain » is a mixed and international masonic Order. Its origins go back to the end of the 19th century. The first Belgian Lodge was created in 1912. Currently, more than eighty Lodges, spread around the country, are organized under the name of the Belgian Federation of " Le Droit Humain ". The Belgian Federation has its base in Brussels. It has its autonomy in the International Order, whose headquarters is in Paris.

The men and the women members of " Le Droit Humain " aspire to the development of the person and adhere to the principles of free expression and to the Declaration of Human Rights. Working jointly and as equals, they do not make any distinction on the basis of colour of skin, gender or language. They accept beliefs, provided that they are nondogmatic, tolerant and respectful of others.

An essential element of the meetings is to reflect on the manner of putting masonic ideals into practice. The exchange of ideas proceeds according to a specific method. Based on rituals and symbols, it allows active listening of others opinions, in so far as it is characterised by tolerance, it conforms with the principles of free examination and is stripped of bias.

The rituals specific to the initiatory method allow self training and create a positive working environment. Such a method does not teach, but clarifies and enlightens, stimulates the mind and prompts emotions, gives impetus to thought, reflexion and meditation.

The members of the Belgian Federation of the international mixed masonic Order " Le Droit Humain " are sensitive to society's great debates. In general the Belgian Federation does not take a single position because masonry cultivates diversity. It is heterogeneous and the source of true tolerance, freedom of conscience, fraternity, equality between people of different opinions.

The Belgian Federation wishes to improve the political, economic and social structures. For this, it relies on the individual initiatives from the members to spread its values. This is how it differs from political parties and philanthropic associations.
